the ultimate pan-fried chicken or pork sandwich
Believe it or not, I came up with the idea for this sandwich while watching an insurance commercial. This dude was eating this great-looking sandwich, and I paused it, and back played it several time, until I figured out what I wanted to do. Is it the same sandwich… probably not. But it looks pretty much the same. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients
- PLAN/PURCHASE
- 2 slices bacon, thickly sliced
- 1/4 cup flour, all purpose variety
- - salt, kosher variety, to taste
- - black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 1 medium chicken breast, boneless, skinless or boneless pork loin
- 2 tablespoons sweet butter, unsalted, melted
- 2 slices rustic bread, thickly sliced
- 2 slices provolone cheese
- 1/2 medium ripe avocado
- - lettuce, i’m using frisée
- 1/2 medium ripe tomato, sliced
- - favorite sauce or dressing
How To Make the ultimate pan-fried chicken or pork sandwich

Step 1PREP/PREPARE

Step 2Gather your ingredients (oops forgot the image… my bad).

Step 3Cook the bacon in a sauté pan over medium heat until crispy.

Step 4Remove the bacon and reserve.

Step 5Add the flour, salt, pepper, cumin, cayenne, and paprika to a small bowl.

Step 6Add the chicken or pork to the mixture, and thoroughly coat.

Step 7Place the chicken or pork in the pan with the bacon grease, and cook over medium heat until browned and toasty, about 5 minutes per side.

Step 8Chef's Note: Remove from the pan, and slice into thick pieces.

Step 9Brush the melted butter on both sides of the bread and toast in the same pan that you used to cook the bacon, and the chicken.

Step 10THE ASSEMBLY

Step 11Spread a generous amount of your favorite sauce to one side of each piece of the toasted bread.

Step 13Place the cooked chicken, or pork on one slice of the bread.

Step 14Add the provolone cheese.

Step 15Pop under the broiler until the cheese melts over the chicken, or pork and the bread.

Step 16Add the lettuce.

Step 17Add the tomatoes.

Step 18Add the avocado.

Step 19Add the bacon.

Step 20Top with other slice of toasted bread, and cut in half.

Step 21PLATE/PRESENT

Step 22Serve with some chips, or fries, and beverage of choice. Enjoy.
