While there is nothing wrong with traditional buffalo style wings, I enjoy a change of pace from time to time. This recipe certainly fits the bill and is easy to customize with heat and sweet as your pallet desires. Serve with your favorite grilled side to keep your kitchen clean.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 lb
    chicken wings
  • MARINADE

  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 1/2 c
    sesame oil
  • 1/4 c
    sesame seeds
  • 1/2 c
    honey
  • 1 Tbsp
    ginger, fresh grated
  • 1/2 medium
    onion, minced
  • 1/4 c
    chili garlic paste
  • 1/2 c
    rice wine vinegar
  • 3
    limes, juiced
  • 1/2 c
    orange juice
  • 1 tsp
    white pepper
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    allspice, ground
  • 2 Tbsp
    chinese five spice powder
  • 1 bunch
    cilantro, chopped (reserve half for garnish)

How to Make Sweet and Spicy Thai Wings

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine marinade ingredients and pour mixture over chicken. Marinade for at least 2 hours and up to 12.
  2. Preheat grill with a hot and cooler side and place wings on hot side first, turning occasionally until lightly brown...retain marinade.
  3. With remaining marinade, baste wings occasionally until crisp and done through. Remove from grill.
  4. Reduce remaining marinade in saucepan until thick.
  5. Toss wings in sauce in large bowl to coat.
  6. Transfer to serving dish and garnish with remaining cilantro.
