carrot, coarsely chopped
green bell pepper, chunked
onion, quartered
2 Tbsp
quick cooking tapioca
chicken breasts, boned
8 oz
1/3 c
dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1/3 c
red wine vinegar
1 Tbsp
soy sauce
1 tsp
chicken bouillon
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
2 Tbsp
fresh ginger root, finely chopped
1 tsp
cilantro, dried
hot cooked rice

How to Make Sweet and Sour Chicken


  • 1CROCKPOT-Put vegetables in bottom of crockpot.
  • 2Sprinkle tapioca over vegetables.
  • 3Place chicken atop vegetables.
  • 4Combine all other ingredients except rice in a small bowl.
  • 5Pour over chicken.
  • 6Cover crockpot and turn to low and cook for 8-10 hours.
  • 7Before serving make rice.
  • 8Serve over rice.
  • 9Leftovers can be reheated in microwave.
  • 10OVEN-Put vegetables in bottom of a greased pan. Sprinkle vegetables with tapioca.
  • 11Add chicken to pan.
  • 12Combine all other ingredients except rice in a small bowl.
  • 13Pour over chicken.
  • 14Cover pan tightly with foil.
  • 15Bake in 300 degree oven for 2 hours. Serve over rice.
