This is a delicious, super easy orange chicken recipe that you can literally make at home with everyday ingredients, faster than ordering takeout. The garlicky, thick orange sauce is 'lick the pan clean' good, made in about five minutes and better than take out. This is one of the recipes I always reach for when I have very little time to cook. Looks like you've fussed, but can be on the table in about 30 minutes. A very impressive dish for company.

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • SEASONED CHICKEN BREAST
  • 1 1/2-2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite size, large chunks

  • canola oil for frying

How To Make super easy orange chicken (faster than takeout)

  • Yummy orange sauce. Incredible flavor.
    1
In medium bowl, combine all sauce ingredients. This can be done in the morning, if you wish, allowing flavors to blend and saving time later in the day. (Just warm slightly in micro before adding to pan later in the day.)
  • 2
In a 1 gallon ziplock bag, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder and cornstarch. Shake to mix. Add cubed chicken breast and shake, coating chicken evenly.
  • Fried beautifully golden by using cornstarch.
    3
Add approximately 3-4 TB. of canola oil to skillet and heat. Shaking off excess cornstarch mixture, add chicken in an even layer to the pan. Cook until chicken is golden and cooked through, 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally. Don't overcook. Chicken will cook more in next step.
  • When the sauce hits the pan, the aroma is incredible!
    4
Add sauce to pan and cook until hot, bubbly and thickened, 3-5 minutes, stirring often. (Sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.) Garnish with green onion tops or sesame seeds. Fresh orange slices on the plate look lovely, too. That's it! Your Asian takeout is ready to serve over or alongside your favorite rice. Add a side of sugar snap peas, if you'd like, for a complete meal.
