Ingredients For southern oven-fried chicken

  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 2 to 3
    drops of hot sauce
  • 3/4 c
    cornflakes
  • 3 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1
    1-pound 14ounce chicken with bones
  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 1 tsp
    canola oil

How To Make southern oven-fried chicken

    Remove the skin from the chicken

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees Spray large baking sheet with non-stick spray

    Crush the cornflakes i just put the cornflakes in a bowl and break up with my hands. You could use a food processor but be careful not to over chop.

    In a large shallow bowl combine buttermilk and hot sauce. On a sheet of wax paper combine corn flakes crumbs,flour,salt,pepper.

    Dip chicken pieces in buttermilk mixture,dredge,coating completely with cornflake mixture.

    Arrange chicken on prepared baking sheet, drizzle evenly with oil. Bake 25 minutes.
