Simple Brunswick Stew

This is no where near an "authentic" Brunswick stew but it is delicious. Some one gave me this recipe and we fell in love with it. I double the recipe and we take it for work lunches.
Real Brunswick stew takes 3 days to make and cost an arm and leg. So this is a nice substitute when you can't get the real thing.

How to Make Simple Brunswick Stew

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook onion in small amount of oil, in large 4qt or 8qt if double recipe, pot, till they are clear.
Add rest of ingredients. Cook on low heat for 2 hours. The longer you cook it the better it is.
  2. *Slow Cooker* Put all ingredients in your slow cooker and let it cook on low for 4-6 hours, or longer.
  3. **Castleberry Meat** This ingredient is not available Nationwide. I have substituted one tub of BBQ meat such as Lloyd's that is sold in the grocery refrigerated meat section usually.
