shoyu chicken
I have been making shoyu chicken for almost 50 yrs of marriage. Its a dish you find at most Hawaiian Restaurants in Hawaii. This is my own recipe for the sauce.If you use less chicken then of course you would make less sauce. Just make sure the shoyu/sugar/water is of equal portions. and less of the garlic/ginger/sesame oil. I use it to make beef or pork teriyaki or rumaki. Its best if you place the meat and sauce in a ziplock bag/bags over night in the refrigerator if making beef , pork teriyaki or rumaki

Ingredients
- 1 cup aloha shoyu
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 - thumb sized piece of fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 8/9 - pieces of bone in chicken thighs
How To Make shoyu chicken

Step 1Mix all the sauce ingredients in a bowl and stir well.

Step 2Add the sauce ingredients in a big pot containing the chicken thighs. and boil until cooked.

Step 3Turn on the oven to broil and place cooked chicken thighs in a baking dish and brush some of the sauce from the pan you cooked chicken in over the cooked chicken and broil till it looks like how it would on an outdoor grill. Broil both sides. Or else use a grill instead of the oven.
