This recipe is so quick and easy, but also so very delicious. It's always been one of my grandkids' favorites. Simply bake some chicken strips, pour spaghetti sauce over them, throw some cheese on top and bake for a few more minutes. Viola! Your main dish is ready. Just serve with garlic Texas toast and a small green salad or steamed broccoli on the side (and a glass of Chianti for the adults, lol!) (P.S.) Just remember, the better your ingredients are, the better the finished product will be.

Ingredients For shortcut chicken parmesan

  • olive oil or spray for dish
  • 1/2 pkg
    frozen breaded chicken breast strips (approx. 3/4 lb.)
  • 1 jar
    spaghetti sauce, divided (24 oz. your fave)
  • 1 heaping c
    whole milk mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 Tbsp
    grated parmesan cheese
  • some
    fresh basil, torn or chiffonade, optional

How To Make shortcut chicken parmesan

  • Ingredients for Shortcut Chicken Parmesan.

    Gather ingredients. Shred cheeses. Preheat oven per package instructions.
  • Baking dish sprayed with olive oil cooking spray.

    Lightly oil a 10"x10" baking dish (or dish of similar size.)
  • Frozen chicken breast strips and pieces in baking dish.

    Place chicken pieces in prepared dish, sides touching, using as many pieces as will fit, to make a single layer.

    Bake in preheated oven according to package time and temperature (my favorite brand, Perdue, bakes at 425 for 20 minutes.)
  • Baked chicken strips covered with spaghetti sauce.

    Remove from oven. Pour about 1 1/2 cups spaghetti sauce over the hot chicken. Reserve remainder of sauce for serving.
  • Assembled chicken parmesan ready for last few minutes in oven.

    Scatter 1 heaping cup of shredded mozzarella over chicken and sauce.

    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese over all.
  • Cheese melted and bubbly on top of chicken parm.

    Return dish to oven set at 425 degrees F ; bake for additional 7 to 8 minutes, until cheese is melted and beginning to bubble.

    Meanwhile, warm the remaining sauce in the microwave (covered) or in a small pan on the stove, for serving with the chicken, if desired.
  • A serving of chicken parm and a slice of garlic bread on plate.

    Garnish with fresh basil, if desired. Serve immediately. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
