My friend and I had wanted to try a few new indian recipes we hadn't tried before, and this was one of our favorites. This creamy spinach sauce can be made with mixed vegtables,paneer, shrimp, lamb, fish, it doesn't have to be chicken. Its also very good just to dip naan in

Stove Top


  • 3 lb
    chicken pieces skinned
  • 5 clove
    garlic minced
  • 2 large
    onions diced
  • 2 large
    tomatoes crushed
  • 1"
    piece of ginger minced
  • 4 Tbsp
  • 4 bunch
    spinach washed and chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    corriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    turmeric, ground
  • 2 large
    cardamon pods
  • 2
  • 7 Tbsp
    vegtable oil
  • 1 tsp
    garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp



  1. fry chicken in 4 tbs oil for 3-4 minutes, until lightly browned, set aside.
  2. put the spinach in a deep pan, add 1/4 cup water bring to boil and remove from heat. Let cool, when cool , grind in blender and set aside.
  3. heat remaining oil add ginger, garlic, onions saute till lightly browned. Add tomatoes, salt, cayenne, corriander, turmeric,cloves and cardomom.
  4. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of water, cook for 10 minutes over low heat.
  5. Add chicken and milk, simmer until the chicken is tender.
  6. Add spinach and garam masala.
  7. Cook until spinach starts sticking to the pan. Remove from heat.
  8. Add butter and cover until ready to serve.
