randa's mom's shredded chicken
My friend shared her mom's recipe with a group of us. Her mom made it for larger potluck style gatherings, I think.

Ingredients
- 4-8 chicken breasts
- 1 stick butter
- 1 onion soup mix
- 1. (16oz) can beer (use something basic cuz it will affect the flavor)
How To Make randa's mom's shredded chicken
-
Step 1Layer chicken breasts in bottom of a crockpot.
-
Step 2Sprinkle with the dry onion soup mix.
-
Step 3Cut up the butter and place on top of chicken.
-
Step 4Pour beer over the chicken.
-
Step 5Cover and cook on high for 3 hours, low for 5 hours.
-
Step 6The times are very approximate. Keep an eye on the chicken. (In the above photo I had just 4 chicken breasts. They were fully cooked in 3 hours. I would think if they were layered, with a total of 6 or 8 breasts, it might take longer.)
-
Step 7After they are cooked, shred the chicken with forks, then stir in the juice in the crockpot.
-
Step 8Serve on buns, or over rice or potatoes or noodles, or just eat! (Some people in the family like to add a piece of cheese on the meat before eating. Others like it with dill pickles. I like it plain!)
