poultry essentials: sesame chicken thighs
Here is an easy/peasy recipe that can be made in a single pan. The overnight marinade gives the chicken a great savory taste, and cleanup is a snap. FYI: My main photo lacks one item… the toasted sesame seeds. My bad. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make poultry essentials: sesame chicken thighs
-
Step 1PREP/PREPARE
-
Step 2You will need an ovenproof skillet to make this recipe.
-
Step 3Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
-
Step 4Add the marinade ingredients to a bowl, or Ziploc bag, then add the chicken.
-
Step 5Place in the fridge, and marinate for a minimum of 8 hours, or overnight.
-
Step 6Remove the chicken from the marinade and pat the skin side with a paper towel. Reserve the marinade.
-
Step 7Place a rack in the middle position and preheat the oven to 350f (175c).
-
Step 8Place the grapeseed oil into an ovenproof skillet over medium heat.
-
Step 9When the oil begins to shimmer, add the chicken, skin side down.
-
Step 10Allow to cook until the skin begins to crisp, and develop dark brown spots, about 2 – 3 minutes.
-
Step 11Remove the chicken and pour off the oil. Replace the chicken, skin side up, and add the marinade. Then place into the preheated oven.
-
Step 12Bake for 20 – 25 minutes, then raise the heat to 375f (190c), and bake an additional 10 minutes.
-
Step 13This is not about time, as it is about temperature. The internal temperature of the chicken thighs should be 165f (73c).
-
Step 14Remove the chicken and set the skillet on the stove at medium-high heat. Boil down the marinade until reduced by half, about 3 – 5 minutes.
-
Step 15PLATE/PRESENT
-
Step 16Add the chicken to a mound of rice, drizzle with that yummy sauce, and serve with some crusty bread. Enjoy.
-
Step 17Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
