pork-n-beef crockpot to skillet stew w/biscuits

Dad just loves my beef stew! I have a secret to thickening my stew. This time thought it would be nice serving this to Dad in a skillet.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef stew meat
  • 1 pound pork chops bone in
  • 4 cups beef stock
  • 2 cups vegetable stock
  • 1 cup cola
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 2 - celery stalk cut
  • 3 - carrots, cubed
  • 1 small shallots cut
  • 2 - garlic cloves
  • 1 - 15oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 large potatoes cubed
  • 3 cups vegetables of choice used fresh corn and greenbeens
  • 1/4 cup potato mix (for thickening)
  • BISCUITS
  • - homemade or store bought
  • - dried rosemary
  • - garlic powder
  • - melted butter

How To Make pork-n-beef crockpot to skillet stew w/biscuits

  • Step 1
    Put first 12 ingredients in crockpot, set on low. Slow cook for four hours. Remove bone from pork and discard, chopping pork and returning to crockpot.
  • Step 2
    Next add rest of ingredients. Continue to slow cook for another 4 hours. Check for seasoning.
  • Step 3
    To serve I put in small cast iron skillet with 3 biscuits brush with melted butter and sprinkled with garlic and rosemary. Baked in 400 degree oven for 5-7 min. Till golden brown. Serve in skillet.
