  • 1/4 c
    margarine or butter, melted
  • 1/3 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt, optional if using salted butter
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 large
    egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c
  • 24
    saltine crackers, finely crushed
  • 3 1/2 lb
    chicken pieces

How to Make Oven-Fried Chicken


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place margarine in 15x10 1/2x 1-in. baking pan; set aside.
  2. Combine flour, salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper in a medium size bowl (big enough to roll chicken); have cracker crumbs in a bowl
  3. Combine egg and milk in a separate bowl. Roll chicken in flour mixture, dip into egg mixture and then roll in cracker crumbs
  4. Place coated chicken in baking pan. Bake 30 minutes; Turn. Bake and additional 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
