Gordon Ramsey made a Lemon Sticky Chicken on a web video. After watching him, my husband and I made up our version with an orange twist. This chicken was scrumptous!

Ingredients

  • CHICKEN LEGS:
  • 1 - family pack of chicken legs
  • MARINADE:
  • 2 - juice of 2 freshly squeezed oranges to = 1 cup juice
  • - reserve zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup lite karo syrup
  • 1/4 cup worchestershire
  • 2/3 cup peanut oil
  • SAUCE:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup tubinado sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 12 ounces bottle chili sauce
  • 2 - squeezed oranges to = 1/3 cup of juice
  • 3/4 cup lite karo syrup
  • 1/4 cup tupelo honey
  • RUB:
  • 4 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar

How To Make orange drumstickles

  • Step 1
    Cut meat off lower portion of leg and cut smaller knuckle off cleaning to expose leg bone. Chicken leg should look like a large popsicle on a stick.
  • Step 2
    Marinate chicken legs for 2 hours in marinade. Prepare sauce while chicken is left to marinate.
  • Step 3
    Once the 2 hour marinade is done, sprinkle rub on chicken. Bake chicken in oven or put on smoker at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, baste chicken with drippings and some melted butter if chicken looks dry. Turn chicken over and return to oven or smoker and cook until internal temperature is 165 degrees.
  • Step 4
    Now slather chicken with sauce and continue cooking another 15 minutes to set the sauce.
