My dad sent me this recipe and it is really good. The prep time is minimal (not counting the 6-9 hours for marinading) it is an easy recipe. It usually takes about an hour to cook the chicken slowly but cook times will depend on your grill.

    vegetable oil
  • 2 c
lemon lime flavored carbonated beverage ( we use sprite)
  • 1 c

How to Make My Dad's Best BBQ Chicken

Step-by-Step

  1. To make the marinade: in a medium sized bowl combine the oil, beverage, soy sauce and garlic powder. Stir thoroughly until you have a good mixture.
  2. Combine the chicken and marinade in a covered container and marinade in the fridge for 6-9 hours (12-18 hours if using chicken with the bone and skin still intact).
  3. Barbecue slowly on the grill- do not overcook. Turn frequently, basting with the marinade with each turn. Cook until meat is no longer pink in the center and juices run clear. Discard any remaining marinade. **Note you can use an injector to inject some of the marinade into the meat.
