This is one of our "go-to" meals whenever we go camping. Make sure you back away from the stove when you add the lemon juice or you'll be attacked by the red pepper steam!

1/2 c
all-purpose flour
1 dash(es)
1 dash(es)
boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, sliced horizontally into thin fillets
2 Tbsp
olive oil
1 Tbsp
clove garlic, minced or pressed through garlic press
1 tsp
crushed red pepper flakes
1 Tbsp
grated lemon peel (optional)
1/4 c
lemon juice
1 Tbsp
dried or fresh chopped parsley

How to Make Lemon Chicken Diablo


  • 1Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a bag.
  • 2Shake chicken in flour mixture to coat.
  • 3Sauté chicken in olive oil and butter, about 8 minutes on each side, until cooked through and golden.
  • 4Sprinkle with garlic, red pepper flakes, and lemon peel.
  • 5Cook another 2 minutes, turning chicken over a couple of times.
  • 6Add lemon juice to skillet, pouring over all pieces. (This is where you try not to breathe the steam!) The chicken will absorb the lemon juice.
  • 7Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
