Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups panko bread crumbs
  • TONKATSU SAUCE
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic minced

How To Make katsu chicken

  • Step 1
    Mix the ingredients for the Tonkatsu sauce together and set aside.
  • Step 2
    Place the chicken between plastic wrap and pound to make it more unified in size. Cut into strips. Salt them and then set if fridge on baking sheet for 1 hour.
  • Step 3
    Set up three dredging stations. one add the flour. Beat the eggs and add to a station then put the Panko in the third station. Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  • Step 4
    Add about 1/2 inch of oil to a large skillet. Working in batches. Dredge the chicken in the flour, then egg and then dredge in the panko .
  • Step 5
    When the oil is very hot fry the chicken pieces in batches turning to get a nice brown color. Remove the chicken to a baking sheet.
  • Step 6
    place in oven while completing all the pieces of chicken. Serve with Tonkasu sauce for dipping.
