Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 1/2 lemon juiced
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 4 boneless skin thighs cut into pieces
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 jalapeno seeded and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 28 ounces can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • fresh cilantro for garnish
  • basmati rice and naan for serving

How To Make indian butter chicken

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl add the yogurt, lemon juice, turmeric, garam masala and cumin. Toss in the chicken and let marinate 6 hours.
  • Step 2
    Add half the butter to a skillet and cook the chicken until golden. Transfer to a plate and set aside. Add the remaining butte to a pan and cook the onion, garlic, ginger and jalapeno for about 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, paprika, and chicken to the pan.
  • Step 3
    Simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and cook 2 more minutes. Serve garnished with Cilantro. Serve with Basmati rice and naan
