honey garlic bourbon chicken
My eyes perked right up when I saw the word Bourbon. Alas, there is none in this recipe. I am told it is based on a Bourbon street recipe and that's where the name comes from. There is plenty of sauce from this recipe that can be used over rice or veggies as well as the chicken.

- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup soy sauce, low sodium

How To Make honey garlic bourbon chicken
-
Step 1Trim chicken pieces (I would recommend boneless breasts or thighs) salt and pepper to taste. Spray crock with cooking spray and place chicken in bottom.
-
Step 2In medium bowl combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, oil, onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes and mix with a whisk until well blended.
-
Step 3Pour mixture over chicken and cover. Cook on low for 3-4 hours, or on high for 2 to 2.5 hours until temps at 150 degrees.
-
Step 4Remove chicken from crock and cut into chunks.
-
Step 5Sauce left in crock will be thin. Remove to a saucepan and over medium heat add corn starch slurry (1 part corn starch to 2 parts cold water and mix well) add to sauce. After thickening pour over chicken.
