Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup fresh queezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (processed through garlic press)
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

How To Make grilled lemon pepper soy chicken drumsticks

  • Step 1
Make two slits through the meaty part of each drumstick and set aside.
  • Step 2
Pour the lemon juice, soy sauce, avocado oil, garlic, honey, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground pepper into a large resealable plastic bag; shake to make sure all the ingredients have melded together.
  • Step 3
Toss in the drumsticks and swish to coat. Seal the bag, removing as much air as possible, and marinate in the refrigerator for 6 to 8 hours.
  • Step 4
Heat your BBQ to high heat for a good 15 minutes.
  • Step 5
Reduce the heat to medium-high just before cooking and oil the grates.
  • Step 6
Remove the drumsticks from the marinade and grill until cooked through, turning every 5 minutes or so. The time will depend on your grill and the thickness of the chicken pieces (about 20 to 30 minutes). Test the biggest piece by pulling the flesh away from the bone with a fork. If there is no pink and the juices run clear, it is ready.
  • Step 7
Place the chicken in a large bowl or foil container, and drizzle with melted butter and remaining pepper. Toss to coat and serve.
