I have always loved chicken n dumplings, and aren't things always better the way grandma used to make?

Ingredients For grandma w's crockpot chicken n dumplings

  • 1 1/2
    whole chickens
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1 bag
    carrots
  • celery to taste
  • onion to taste
  • dried sage to taste
  • dried parsley flakes to taste
  • 3 can
    biscuits, quartered

How To Make grandma w's crockpot chicken n dumplings

    Cook the chickens in the crockpot with 2 cups of water. Take chicken off the bone, set aside, and bring water back up to a boil. Add the carrots, celery and onion. Season to taste with sage and parsley flakes. Turn down to low.

    Put in 1 can of biscuits that you quartered, then add the chicken on top. Top with the remaining 2 cans of quartered biscuits and cook an additional 20 minutes. (Do NOT open during the 20 minutes so the biscuits cook)

    I made this on the stove tonight, and it was fantastic! I used 2 whole chickens, 1 can of chicken broth, 2 boxes of vegetable broth, just short of 2 lbs baby carrots, 5 stalks celery, and 4 tubes of 10 pack biscuits. Absolutely amazing! My next step is to try in camp over an open fire!
