On my quest to get more ribbons I pulled this from my early cooking days and revisited it today, it is just as good now as it was when I first started making it.

  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    corn starch

How to Make Gayle's Coffee Braised Chicken

Step-by-Step

  1. Add all ingredients (except the corn starch and 1/2 cup water that is for thickening later)into a large stock pot.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer over medium heat for 40 minutes WITHOUT STIRRING OR OPENING, just shake the pan once or twice during cooking.
  3. at 40 minutes if you are going to thicken the broth combine corn starch and cold water and slowly add to bubbling liquid stirring constantly. Let sit 5 minutes before serving.
  4. ****************************************************
  5. I used my rice cooker to cook the rice and in the steam basket in the rice cooker I steamed some broccoli to serve the chicken and sauce over.
