I love these & where we live now...you can't buy them, so I had to come up with a recipe myself.

Ingredients

  • BUTTER MIXTURE:
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons chives, fresh/chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • CHICKEN:
  • 6 chicken breasts, halves, boneless & skinless
  • 3 packages shake 'n bake, original chicken or flavored variety (i used 1 - original chicken 1 - parmesan & 1 - ranch & herb)
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, fresh and chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk

How To Make garlic chicken kiev

  • Step 1
    Mix butter, chives & the garlic powder; shape into rectangle, 3 x 2".
  • Step 2
    Cover & freeze about 30 minutes or until firm.
  • Step 3
    Flatten each chicken breast half to l/4" thickness between waxed paper or plastic wrap.
  • Step 4
    Cut butter mixture crosswise into 6 pieces. Place piece on center of each chicken breast half.
  • Step 5
    Fold long sides over butter; fold up ends & secure with toothpick.
  • Step 6
    Mix shake 'n bake, parsley & paprika.
  • Step 7
    Dip chicken into buttermilk; lightly & evenly coat with shake 'n bake mixture.
  • Step 8
    Freeze on baking sheet 30 minutes or until firm. NOTE: Take out what you need & leave the rest in ziplock bag until ready to bake.
  • Step 9
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Step 10
    Spray square pan, 9 x 9 x 2", with non stick cooking spray.
  • Step 11
    Place chicken, seam sides down, in pan; spray chicken lightly with cooking spray; bake uncovered about 40 - 45 minutes or until chicken is done.
  • Step 12
    Let stand uncovered 5 minutes.
