This recipe is based on a Sandra Lee recipe I found - I tweaked it a bit and the results are wonderful! Whenever I bring these to a gathering there are NEVER any leftovers!

Ingredients For game time wings

  • 3 lb
    chicken wings
  • 1 (18 oz) jar
    apricot-pineapple preserves
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 1 (1.25oz) pkg
    taco seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder (or use 1 tsp fresh,minced garlic)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp
    ground chipotle powder
  • 1
    jalapeno pepper, finely diced (optional)

How To Make game time wings

    Preheat broiler. Remove tips from chicken wings - cut chicken wings in sections. Place wings on foil-lined baking sheet. Broil wing sections for 8-10 minutes until skin is crispy and golden. Place wings in slow cooker.

    Mix preserves, taco seasoning, chipotle powder, garlic powder, ketchup and jalapeno pepper in a bowl. Pour over wings and stir to coat. (Note: chipotle can add heat with only a small amount)

    Cover and cook on HIGH for 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 hours. Turn off slow cooker and let sit for 15 minutes to allow juices to thicken.
