Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large onions sliced
- 1 teaspoon each salt and sugar
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
- 4 chicken thighs
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 cups shredded gruyere
- parsley for garnish
How To Make french onion chicken thighs

Step 1Add 2 tbsp. oil to large skillet. Add the onions, salt, sugar and thyme. Cook over medium low heat stirring often until golden brown and jammy. About 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside. Wipe out skillet.

Step 2Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Place the other 2 tbsp oil to pan. Cook the chicken about 15 minutes turning often. Add the garlic, oregano and beef broth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and add the onions back in.

Step 3Cook until reduced and thickened. Top with the Gruyere cheese and place a lid on top and remove from heat. Let the cheese melt. Garnish with parsley
