How To Make french onion chicken casserole
-
Step 1Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add onions and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes until soft.
-
Step 2Reduce heat until medium and cook until onions are caramelized, about 15 minutes. Pour in 1/4 cup of broth or sherry to deglaze and keep stirring until onions are browned.
-
Step 3Stir in minced garlic and cook about 1 minute. Turn off the heat and allow to cool slightly. Season chicken breasts with oregano, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Arrange chicken breasts in greased 9 X 13 Inch baking dish.
-
Step 4Divide caramelized onions on top of each chicken breast. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top and bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Then broil for 2 minutes.
