Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter divided
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 4 boneless chicken thighs
- 2 medium onions sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 8 shredded gruyere cheese
- fresh parsley for garnish
How To Make french onion chicken

Step 1Preheat oven 350 degrees. Heat a large skillet over high heat. Season the chicken on both sides with salt and pepper. Add one tbsp butter and the olive oil to the skillet. Add the chicken and sear on both sides until browned well. Transfer the chicken to baking pan and place in the oven.

Step 2Add the remaining 2 tbsp butter to skillet. Add the onions and stir to combine. Add the salt and sugar and stir again. Turn heat down to medium low and continue to cook slowly to caramelize the onions. About 10 minutes. Turn the heat up and add the wine. Boil until most has evaporated. Stir in the flour and add the beef broth. Stir in the thyme Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer.

Step 3Simmer until thickened. Remove the chicken from the oven and nestle them back into the onion mixture. Turn the oven on to broil. Top the chicken with the cheese and broil until cheese is melted and bubbly. Top with parsley
