Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup rye flour
  • 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup bulgur
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup brewer's yeast (get it at a health food store)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup dry milk powder
  • 1/4 cup water, warm
  • 1 cup chicken or turkey broth, non-fat
  • 1/4 cup parsley flakes
  • 1 x large egg
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk

How To Make dog biscuits

  • Step 1
Place the warm water & dry yeast in a bowl & stir until all yeast is dissolved; then add the chicken or turkey broth. Place the flours, brewer's yeast, bulgur, dried milk, cornmeal & parsley in another bowl & mix well. Stir the liquid mixture into the dry mixture & mix well into a stiff dough. If the dough is too difficult to work, add a small amount of warm water to loosen it up.
  • Step 2
Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4" - 1/2" thickness, then cut with a cookie cutter into biscuits. Place the biscuits on a cookie sheet & lightly glazed with the egg & milk & bake at 300 degrees F. for 40 minutes. Allow the biscuits to remain in the oven overnight to thoroughly dry out.
