butter
1/4 c
flour
1 c
whole milk
3 c
chicken broth
1 1/2 c
finely chopped cooked chicken
1/4 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
poultry seasoning
1 dash(es)
pepper

How to Make Cream of Chicken Soup

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cook chicken - boil for 20 minutes in large saucepan 3/4 full of water. Discard water. Cut cooked chicken into small pieces.
  • 2In stockpot, melt butter. With wire whisk, slowly stir in flour, stirring constantly.
  • 3Slowly stir in milk and broth. Cook over medium heat and stir constantly until mixture is slightly thickened and bubbly; reduce heat.
  • 4Stir in chicken, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper; heat through.
