chicken tikka masala

This is my daughter's favorite dish when we go to Indian resturants. I found this recipe on another site, so I made it for her and her husband while I was visiting. It takes a little while to prepare but is soooo worth the wait. I hope you will try this recipe. It is mild even thought it has peppers in it, my 2 yr old granddaughter couldn't get enough of it.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- MARINADE
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 4 teaspoons salt
- SAUCE
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 - jalapeno finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro
How To Make chicken tikka masala

Step 1The night before, combine all the ingredients for the marinade. Stir in the chicken, making sure to coat the pieces completely. Cover and refrigerate. Mixing again in the morning and return to the frig until ready to prepare.

Step 2When chicken is done marinating heat olive oil in a Lg. skillet on medium heat. Place chicken skin side down and cook for 15 min covering pan. Turn chicken over and cook covered for 15 more minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.

Step 3Melt butter in skillet. Saute garlic and jalapeno for about 1 min. Add cumin, paprika, salt, tomato sauce and cream. Add chicken back to the skillet and simmer on low for about 20 or until sauce thickens.

Step 4Garnish with chopped cilantro. Serve with favorite Indian rice dish and Naan. Enjoy!!
