The soy sauce seems like an odd ingredient but it's what gives this stew it's great flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 3 medium red potatoes
  • 3 - carrots sliced
  • 3 - celery stalks sliced
  • 10 ounces pkg. frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3-4 pounds chicken cubed
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 3/4 cups water

How To Make chicken stew

  • Step 1
    Place in a resealable plastic bag-flour, garlic, pepper, & mix. Add chicken to coat. Heat oil in a deep frying pan, brown chicken, then set chicken aside. In same pan add 1 1/4 cup water, soy sauce, oregano. Add chicken and vegetables. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 30-40 minutes. Remove meat and vegetables. Add remaining water and flour to make gravy.
