The soy sauce seems like an odd ingredient but it's what gives this stew it's great flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano
  • 3 medium
    red potatoes
  • 3
    carrots sliced
  • 3
    celery stalks sliced
  • 10 oz
    pkg. frozen peas
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 3-4 lb
    chicken cubed
  • 2 Tbsp
    oil
  • 1 3/4 c
    water

How to Make Chicken Stew

Step-by-Step

  1. Place in a resealable plastic bag-flour, garlic, pepper, & mix. Add chicken to coat. Heat oil in a deep frying pan, brown chicken, then set chicken aside. In same pan add 1 1/4 cup water, soy sauce, oregano. Add chicken and vegetables. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 30-40 minutes. Remove meat and vegetables. Add remaining water and flour to make gravy.
