My daughter and I were playing in the kitchen and wanted to make something different, so here you go. This is a wonderful dish. Very easy to make, as my daughter is 13 and she made it all. t is a fun twist on an old favorite.

Ingredients For chicken parmesan casserole

  • HOMEMADE GARLIC CROUTONS
  • 1/4 c
    softened butter
  • 1 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1
    loaf of Italian bread
  • 2 Tbsp
    parsley
  • CASSEROLE
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 clove
    garlic, crushed
  • red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 5-6
    chicken breasts, skinless, boneless
  • 2 c
    marinara sauce
  • 1/4 c
    fresh basil
  • 8 oz
    mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz
    Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1
    batch homemade croutons

How To Make chicken parmesan casserole

    For homemade garlic croutons, butter both sides of the bread. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.

    Sprinkle with garlic salt.

    Sprinkle parsley on both sides.

    Cut buttered bread into 1-inch cubes.

    Place on a baking sheet.

    Bake at 300 degrees for 30-45 minutes stirring every 15 minutes.

    Set aside.

    For the casserole, turn the oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 13 x 9 glass baking dish with the olive oil.

    Then add garlic and brush to coat the entire pan.

    Sprinkle some of the red pepper flakes to taste.

    Then place chicken in pan.

    Pour marinara sauce over the chicken.

    Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and the Parmesan cheese over the sauce.

    Add homemade croutons.

    Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

    Bake for approximately 30 minutes. Baking time may be longer if you use larger breasts.

    Sprinkle basil before serving.
