Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 1 - celery stalk, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 large can chunk chicken (or one large chicken breast, cooked and cut in small pieces)
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make chicken & macaroni

  • Step 1
    Prepare macaroni as directed; drain & keep warm. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add green pepper and celery. Cook until tender, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Stir in flour, salt and pepper until blended. Gradually stir in milk; cook, stirring constantly until sauce is slightly thickened.
  • Step 3
    Stir in chicken and cheese just until cheese is melted. Remove from heat. Stir in the macaroni and serve.
