I wish I could remember where I got this recipe from but I made it a LOT at one time. I haven't done it in quite some time but I remember it being SO good! My kids would even eat it up like crazy!

Ingredients
- - 2 1/2 - 3lb chicken pieces
- 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/2 - green pepper, chopped
- 2 1/4 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon basil, dried
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup diced stewed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup tomato juice, chicken broth or water(your choice)
- - sliced mushrooms (optional)
How To Make chicken hunter style

Step 1cut up chicken, unless you bought it already cut up. You can use boneless, skinless chicken or whole chicken..however you want.

Step 2Brown the chicken in the butter and oil until evenly browned on all sides.

Step 3Add the onion, gr. pepper, garlic, basil, salt & pepper. Stir; Cook til onion is soft but not brown(about 5 minutes).

Step 4Add tomatoes & stir well. Bring to a boil, cover & cook over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5Add liquid and simmer 10 minutes.

Step 6Remove chicken to serving dish & spoon sauce over chicken. Serve with rice.
