If you like black olives and mushrooms you're going to love this dish! Some times when I would visit my mother she would take me to her Senior Citizens pot luck dinner. This was one of the dishes that was served. I loved it so much I had my mom contact the lady for the recipe. These lovely ladies are now gone but their wonderful cooking will still live on and on....

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 teaspoons flour
  • 3/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 packages 8oz. cream cheese, cubed
  • 2 cups fresh sliced mushrooms or 2 small cans
  • 2 cans small cans, sliced black olives or 1large can
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups cooked diced chicken
  • 4 cups cooked wide egg noodles
  • 2 cups buttered bread crumbs

How To Make chicken duplet casserole

  • Step 1
    Saute celery in butter until tender. Add flour to this and stir.
  • Step 2
    Add the half and half and chicken broth, stir until thickened. Add the cubed cream cheese and stir until melted. Stir in salt and pepper. Cover and set aside.
  • Step 3
    Cook noodles in salted water, drain and place in large casserole dish. Stir in chicken, mushrooms and olives.
  • Step 4
    Pour cream cheese mixture on top of noodles stir slightly.Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs over top and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
