Feel free to substitute walnuts if you prefer those. Pecans are just more plentiful where I live and easier to come by!

- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dry white wine
- 1 cup pecan or walnut pieces
- 2-4 tablespoons vegetable oil

- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
How To Make chicken and pecans in hoisin sauce
-
Step 1Cut the chicken into 3/4 inch pieces; place in a medium bowl.
-
Step 2Mix together the egg white, cornstarch, salt, and wine. Add to the chicken pieces and stir to coat well. Set aside.
-
Step 3Saute the nuts in oil in a medium skillet over medium heat until lightly browned. Remove the nuts with a slotted spoon; drain on papertowels.
-
Step 4Add the reserved chicken mixture to the skillet, and cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove chicken, reserving the drippings in the skillet. Drain chicken on papertowels.
-
Step 5Add the sugar, garlic powder, and hoisin sauce to the drippings in the skillet; cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute or until the mixture is thoroughly heated. Add the reserved nuts and chicken. Cook until thoroughly heated and chicken is cooked. Serve over rice, if desired.
