Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken, chopped
- 2 tablespoons shortening or cooking oil
- ¼ cup onion, chopped
- ¼ cup green bell pepper, chopped
- ¼ cup celery, chopped
- ¼ cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- - dash each salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1½ cups milk
- 2 tablespoons pimento, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh or 1 tsp. dried parsley
How To Make chicken a la king

Step 1In large skillet, melt shortening and saute onion, pepper, celery and mushrooms until tender. Remove from pan.

Step 2Melt butter in pan and add flour to make a paste; gradually add milk and cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Add salt and pepper.

Step 3Add chicken, sauteed vegetables, pimento, and parsley. Reduce heat and heat through. Serve over rice.
