california oven-fried chicken

This is so easy and delicious, I have made it many times over the years. Recipe came from a woman at the First Congregational Church in NH So easy I am sure many of you have made it as well. In this picture you can see I just made two breast for my husband and myself. I have cut up a whole chicken and baked the pieces.

Ingredients

  • 1 - frying chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 stick melted butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups dry bread crumbs or finely crushed cornflakes
  • I HAVE USED CRUSHED FRENCH FRIED ONIONS CRUSHED IN WITH THE BREAD CRUMBS

How To Make california oven-fried chicken

  • Step 1
    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Dip the chicken pieces in the melted butter, then shake them in a paper bag containing the garlic powder, paprika, thyme, salt, and crumbs or cornflakes.
  • Step 2
    2. Place the chicken skin side up in a lightly greased 9x13" baking dish, and bake for 50 minutes or until done.
  • Step 3
    Another great idea with this recipe is we take it to the beach or a picnic, with cole slaw or potato salad !!
