Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs
- 8 ounces shiitake mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon chinese 5 spice
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 2 tablespoons each soy sauce and oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 3 scallions chopped
- fresh cilantro chopped
How To Make braised chicken with shiitake mushrooms

Step 1Mix the sugar, oil, 5 spice, rice wine, oyster sauce, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch. Pour over chicken and let marinate at least 2 hours to overnight.

Step 2Add some oil to the skillet. Add the ginger and garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add the chicken and brown on both sides.Remove the chicken to a plate. Add the mushrooms and cook until browned.

Step 3Add the chicken back to the skillet with any juices accumulated. Add water just enough to cover the chicken. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer and simmer about 15 to 20 minutes until chicken is done and sauce thickened.

Step 4Garnish with scallions and cilantro
