  • 2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 3/4 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 4
    boneless skinless chicken breasts

How to Make Blackened Chicken


  1. In small bowl, combine first 8 ingredients, set aside.
  2. Place chicken breasts between sheets of plastic wrap (or in a large plastic food storage bag), and pound to even the thickness (about 1/2 inch or a little less).
  3. Brush one side of chicken breasts with half of the melted butter and sprinkle with half the seasoning mixture. Repeat on other side of chicken breasts.
  4. Heat a large skillet over med-high heat. Cook chicken about 5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
