This recipe gives incredible results! Basted from the inside and well-seasoned outside, this is a delicious BBQ chicken to make.

Ingredients For beer can chicken

  • 1
    whole chicken (4 to 5 lbs.), rinsed and patted dry
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    chicken spice mix
  • 1 tsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 can
    your favorite beer (12 oz/355 ml)
  • 2 lg
    basil leaves
  • 3 sprig
    thyme
  • 1 lg
    clove garlic, peeled and quartered
  • 1 c
    bbq sauce for chicken

How To Make beer can chicken

    Preheat grill between 375ºF to 400ºF.

    In a bowl, add oil, chicken spice mix, and brown sugar; set aside.

    Pour beer into a canister. Add basil leaves, thyme sprigs, and garlic clove. Place the lid on, secure it, and slide it into the stand sitting on the tray.

    Sit chicken on top of the canister and move its legs forward to stabilize the bird. Evenly brush on the rub, making sure to cover the entire chicken.

    Place the tray in the middle of the preheated grill with indirect heat, close the lid, and cook until internal temperature reaches 175ºF.

    About 45 minutes after sitting there (literally), brush on BBQ Sauce for Chicken, close the lid, and repeat every 15 minutes until it’s done.
