vegetable oil

tomato sauce

dried oregano
1/2 tsp
1/4 tsp
garlic cloves, minced
green bell peppers, chopped
1/2 c
dry red wine
1/2 lb
mushrooms, sliced
1/4 c
parmesan cheese, grated

How to Make Baked Chicken Cacciatora


  • 1Place flour in a paper bag; shake chicken pieces in flour to coat.
  • 2In a large frying pan, heat oil.
  • 3Add chicken and cook, turning, until browned, about 10 minutes.
  • 4Remove to a 13x9x2 baking dish.
  • 5While chicken is browning, mix tomato sauce, wine, oregano, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
  • 6Add garlic to pan drippings and saute 1 minute.
  • 7Add bell peppers and mushrooms; cook 5 minutes.
  • 8Stir in tomato sauce mixture.
  • 9Pour over chicken.
  • 10Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 45 minutes, until chicken is tender.
  • 11Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
