Here's another recipe from the same Amish cookbook that the carrot cake came from. 'Baked Chicken Barbecue...one of my favorite dishes! This also makes a great barbecue sauce on its own. *Variation: Omit onion. Add 1/2 tsp. paprika and 1/4 tsp. hickory smoke seasoning to sauce.

Ingredients
- 2 3 pounds whole chickens
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- - juice of 1/4 lemon
- 1 - onion, diced* (see my notes)
How To Make baked chicken barbecue

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 F.

Step 2In a saucepan combine all ingredients except chicken; bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 3Spoon sauce over chickens in a 9- X 13-inch baking dish; add 1/3 cup of water.

Step 4Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven for 2 hours, basting occasionally.
