I created a brand new baked penne recipe, it's based on Kinder's Wood-fired Garlic Seasoning and filled with popcorn chicken.

  • 8 ounces extra sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 1/2 cubes
  • 1 bag frozen (all white meat) popcorn chicken, thawed
  • 6 tablespoons wood-fired garlic seasoning, divdied
  • 16 ounces uncooked penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 medium Vidalia sweet onion, peeled and sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend

How To Make wood-fired garlic baked penne with popcorn chicken

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add cubed sharp cheddar cheese, half of popcorn chicken, and 2 tablespoons of wood-fired garlic seasoning; mix well with a fork.
  • Step 3
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add penne and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 11 minutes. Drain.
  • Step 4
Heat avocado oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add sliced Vidalia onion and minced garlic; saute for 6 minutes or until they are tender.
  • Step 5
Stir in 2 tablespoons wood-fired garlic seasoning, black pepper, and Dijon mustard. Remove from heat.
  • Step 6
Heat the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add heavy cream, evaporated milk, half and half, dry onion soup mix, cream cheese, and remaining wood-fired garlic seasoning. Stir well and let it simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened.
  • Step 7
Add cooked penne pasta and sauteed onion and garlic mixture; mix well until combined. Remove from heat.
  • Step 8
Pour into a prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Add the remaining popcorn chicken on top, and press down with a wooden spoon.
  • Step 9
Sprinkle with shredded Mexican cheese blend.
  • Step 10
Bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 10 minutes.
