How To Make wood-fired garlic baked penne with popcorn chicken
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-
Step 2Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add cubed sharp cheddar cheese, half of popcorn chicken, and 2 tablespoons of wood-fired garlic seasoning; mix well with a fork.
-
Step 3Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add penne and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 11 minutes. Drain.
-
Step 4Heat avocado oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add sliced Vidalia onion and minced garlic; saute for 6 minutes or until they are tender.
-
Step 5Stir in 2 tablespoons wood-fired garlic seasoning, black pepper, and Dijon mustard. Remove from heat.
-
Step 6Heat the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add heavy cream, evaporated milk, half and half, dry onion soup mix, cream cheese, and remaining wood-fired garlic seasoning. Stir well and let it simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened.
-
Step 7Add cooked penne pasta and sauteed onion and garlic mixture; mix well until combined. Remove from heat.
-
Step 8Pour into a prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Add the remaining popcorn chicken on top, and press down with a wooden spoon.
-
Step 9Sprinkle with shredded Mexican cheese blend.
-
Step 10Bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 10 minutes.
