Ingredients For western bacon cheeseburger casserole

    frozen onion rings, thawed
  • 2 c
    crumbled real bacon bits, divided
  • 1 c
    cubed processed American cheese
  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp
    steak seasoning
  • 1
    packet dry onion soup mix
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    sea salt mixed with black pepper
  • 1 3/4 c
    honey barbecue sauce, divided
  • 3 tsp
    Dijon mustard
  • 8 oz
    sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make western bacon cheeseburger casserole

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add the thawed onion rings, 1 cup crumbled bacon bits and cubed American cheese; mix well.

    Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until browned and crumbly.

    Stir in the steak seasoning, dry onion soup mix, garlic powder, and sea salt/black pepper. Remove from heat. Drain and discard grease.

    Transfer into a large bowl. Combine with 1 cup honey barbecue sauce, Dijon mustard and remaining bacon bits; mix well.

    Spread the beef mixture onto the onion rings mixture in the baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Drizzle with remaining barbecue sauce.

    Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
