Ingredients

  • 1/2-1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped (optional) *can use red bell pepper if preferred
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 can 28-oz. can whole tomatoes (with liquid) crushed up
  • 1/2 -3/4 cup sauteed mushrooms in butter and drained well (can substitute jarred mushrooms if preferred)
  • 1 can small can sliced black olives
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 package ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 12 ounces cooked spaghetti
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated)

How To Make spaghetti bake

  • Step 1
    Saute the onion, peppers (if using) and fresh mushrooms in butter until soft. Add ground beef and cook until no longer pink.
  • Step 2
    Add crushed tomatoes, olives and oregano. If adding jarred mushrooms - add now.
  • Step 3
    Place half of the spaghetti in a greased baking dish. Top with half of the tomato mixture. Sprinkle with half the cheddar cheese. Repeat a second layer - noodles, tomatoes and cheese.
  • Step 4
    Mix soup and water until smooth and thoroughly mixed. Pour soup mixture over the casserole and top with parmesan cheese.
  • Step 5
    Bake casserole (uncovered) at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and lightly browned on top.
