not stuffed - cabbage roll
This is a one pot meal, or, comfort food, or even a casserole. The only thing about this, you don't have to worry about boiling the cabbage, and taking a leave at-a-time to roll the meat inside and pull a tooth pick to hold the rolls together. You don't have to put it in the oven with sauce and bake it. It's all done on the top of your stove!!! TRY IT, YOU MIGHT LIKE IT!!!

Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large red onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-1/2 cup rice, instant white
- 2 cups water
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon mrs dash extra spicy
- 1 tablespoon hungarian paprika
- 1 medium cabbage head, cored and chopped
- 1 - 28-oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 - 15-oz can tomato sauce
- 1 - 4-oz can mushroom, drained
- - parsley for garnish (optional)

Step 2Lets get all ingredients together!

Step 3In a large heavy pot, brown the ground beef and using a wooden spoon, to tear up the ground beef while cooking.

Step 4Chop up red onion and add to ground beef. Cook until ground beef it done. About 10 minutes. DON'T DRAIN!!

Step 5Minced garlic and add to pot. Cook until you smell the garlic, about 1 minutes.

Step 6Add 2 cups of water to pot.

Step 7Add 1-1/2 cups of instant white rice to pot. Mix all together and turn your stove burner to medium. Cover, let it cook while you get the spices together.

Step 8Combine the sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, paprika and Mrs Dash, add to rice mixture, and stir. Cover.

Step 9Core and chop up cabbage.

Step 10Add to pot.

Step 11Add the diced tomatoes (undrained)

Step 12and the tomato sauce to pot. Use about 1/3 cup of water to clean out the tomato sauce.

Step 13Add mushroom and stir tomatoes and cabbage to place some of the ground beef mixture on top of cabbage. Cover.

Step 14Let it cook for 15 minutes, open cover and stir. Put cover back on.

Step 15Let cook for another 15 minutes, and stir. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Cover and let cook about 15 more minutes or until cabbage is tender.

Step 16Once the mixture in done and cabbage is tender and the seasoning is right, enjoy with a slice of buttered cornbread with a touch of parsley on top --- Mmmm-Mmmm!!!
