It's Hamburger Helper with a New Orleans twist. I created this new beef casserole recipe inspired by New Orleans.

Ingredients For new orleans beef casserole

6white mushrooms, sliced

3 TbspCreole seasoning, divided

16 ozdry elbow macaroni

3 Tbspfennel seeds

1 lblean ground beef

1 mdred bell pepper, chopped

1 mdyellow bell pepper, chopped

1 jarartichoke hearts, drained and sliced

1 Tbspsteak seasoning
-
2 TbspCreole mustard mixed with brown sugar

3 1/2 tspgarlic powder
-
1 cheavy whipping cream
-
1/2 cmilk
-
8 ozcream cheese, softened

1packet dry onion soup mix
-
8 ozGouda cheese, shredded
How To Make new orleans beef casserole

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add sliced white mushrooms. Season with 1 tablespoon Creole seasoning.

3Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain. Transfer to large bowl. Add 1 tablespoon creole seasoning and fennel seeds; mix well.

4Heat ground beef in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add chopped red and yellow bell peppers and sliced artichoke hearts. Cook for 6 minutes until browned. Drain any excess fat.

5Stir with steak seasoning, Creole mustard/brown sugar and garlic powder. Remove from heat.

6Heat margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Combine heavy cream, milk, cream cheese, onion soup mix and remaining Creole seasoning; stir well. Let it simmer for 4 minutes until well thickened.

7Add ground beef mixture and fennel seed/macaroni mixture; mix well. Remove from heat.

8Spoon into a prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle with shredded Gouda cheese.

9Bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 10 minutes.
