This recipe for a brand new chicken nugget casserole is Italian style, letting chicken nuggets step in to chicken Parmesan.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces dry ziti pasta
  • 3 tablespoons Italian salad dressing, divided
  • 6 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 bag frozen (all white meat) chicken nuggets
  • 1 cup marinara sauce, divided
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt mixed with black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 container ricotta cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded

How To Make italian chicken nugget casserole

  • Step 1
    Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook ziti pasta in the boiling water until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 13 minutes; drain.
  • Step 2
    Transfer to a large bowl, add 1 Tbsp Italian salad dressing and 1 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese; mix well for 2 minutes until combined. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step 4
    Coat the bottom of a 9x13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray. Add 2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese and 2 tsp garlic powder; mix well.
  • Step 5
    Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the chicken nuggets and cook for 6 minutes or until completely tender.
  • Step 6
    Stir in 2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese,1 Tbsp Italian salad dressing, 1/2 cup marinara sauce, sea salt/black pepper, and 1 tsp Italian seasoning. Remove from heat.
  • Step 7
    In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, remaining Italian salad dressing, ricotta cheese, remaining Italian seasoning and remaining marinara sauce; whisk together for 5 minutes until creamy and smooth. Set aside.
  • Step 8
    Add prepared ziti into chicken nugget mixture in saucepan; mix well.
  • Step 9
    Pour into a prepared casserole dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese and remaining Parmesan cheese.
  • Step 10
    Bake for 30 minutes or until the casserole is set. Cool completely for 10 minutes.
