hungry man's philly cheese steak casserole

This meal is not for the faint of heart! My son in law loves Philly cheese steak sandwiches and asked if I could make it into a casserole, so I did and he loved it.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 16 oz box of or bag of frozen garlic bread
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 large red bell peppers, cut into strips
  • 2 large green bell peppers, cut into strips
  • 1 large onion, sliced thin
  • 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper, or to your taste
  • 1 - 15 oz jar kraft cheese sauce, or you can use 15 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 pound deli-sliced roast beef, cut into 1"-strips

How To Make hungry man's philly cheese steak casserole

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 450. Lightly spray a 9" x 13" casserole baking dish w/ cooking spray. Place garlic bread, open-faced on a baking sheet and bake 12 mins. Remove from oven and let cool.
  • Step 2
    reduce oven heat to 350. Once bread is cooled, cut it into 1"- cubes and place cubes in casserole dish. Heat oil in lg skillet, over high heat. Add peppers, onions, salt and pepper.
  • Step 3
    Saute constantly until tender. Drizzle 1/2 the cheese sauce, or sprinkle 1/2 the shredded cheese over garlic bread cubes. Layer the beef strips and veggies over cheese. Cover the whole thing w/ foil. bake for 15 mins. Remove foil and top w/ remaining cheese. Bake 5 mins more.
